We hosted a week-long LEGO robotics camp for a group of enthusiastic 6- to 8-year-olds at Montessori Gift Prep in Chicago, teaching them the fundamentals of robotics with LEGO SPIKE Prime. Despite their young age, the students quickly put their learning into action: they built their own robots, programmed motors and sensors, and even completed multiple missions on a real FIRST LEGO League Challenge competition mat! Along the way, they explored different types of renewable energy and designed their own ways to harvest it. Most importantly, they learned what gracious professionalism means and how to be a good teammate.  

Our veteran FTC and FRC student instructors led a highly productive week of camp with six students in grades 7 through 10. Campers covered the fundamentals of the FIRST Tech Challenge program, from hardware and CAD to software programming. Working in two-person teams, students built their own robot chassis with a robotic arm and gripper, then programmed both autonomous and teleop modes for a mini competition at the end of camp.
